Let's be real for a moment, motherhood is hard even with support, but it can feel completely overwhelming without it.

That is why I created Balanced Postpartum to serve as a central hub to create many layers of much needed community, self healing, and relational growth.

Our guided discussions are carefully designed to create authentic and lasting friendships; as well as, empower you with the knowledge and skills needed to ride the waves of early motherhood with confidence, grace, and ease.

I started my mothering journey at 19 and naive..

I blindly trusted doctors and thought everything mothering would come naturally, which set me up for unnecessary hardship.

I experienced extreme worry about my little one's wellbeing, disturbing intrusive thoughts, and I thought that was normal. With my second son, 10 years later, I didn't suffer from anxiety but I was irritable, on edge, and had no energy to care for myself. Again, I was told this is normal.

When I found out I was pregnant with my 3rd son, I realized I needed additional support if I was going to have the beautiful birth and joyful bonding period I deeply desired.

So I took a holistic birthing class, started therapy, took a postpartum nutrition course, and joined a mom group.

It was a lot of time, money, and energy but having my dream birth and getting to truly enjoy my baby without mental health struggles was definitely worth it.

After experiencing the power of community, experiential trauma therapy, effective couples communication, and nutrition I dedicated my professional growth to getting certified in each so I could offer a holistic solution to maternal mental health.

I now combine all the elements that truly helped me have a calm and present postpartum experience into the Balanced Postpartum group to empower other women to do the same!

More than a support group, that are great for feeling seen and heard. Group therapy is led by a Licensed Therapist trained in facilitating inclusive, constructive, and meaningful discussions.

When and Where does the group meet?

We will meet in-person at my office in South Austin.

Can I bring my older children?

Unfortunately older children are not allowed to accompany you because the space is not setup to keep them entertained.

Think of this time as a dedicated time to bond with your new baby.

What if I have to miss a group session?

Unfortunately, In the event life happens and you can't make it to one of the sessions there is no way to make it up.

But, you will not totally miss out either. I will send you an email with the theme discussed, main takeaways, and any activity we completed to do on your own.

What is the age of the babies in the group?

Each group has a mix of babies 0-12 months (although they are mostly on the younger side). We offer support throughout the first year because we understand not every mom will find us, or be ready to commit to a group, immediately following baby's arrival.

Also, we have found the age diversity of baby's provides the group with richer and more meaningful conversations.

What will we talk about?

We spend most of our time discussing universal themes in motherhood like:

Comparison Trap

Mom-Guilt

Realistic Expectations

etc.

What if I can't make the entire series, do you prorate groups or provide make-up sessions?

One of the unique features of the group is they are conducted in a 8 week series. This format allows moms to develop close, authentic connections that really add to the overarching purpose of the group, in that friendships and support continues long after the group ends.

Therefore, to protect this aspect, the group is only sold as a package deal.

Is this a group for postpartum depression and anxiety?

This group can certainly support you if you are experiencing ppd/ppa but it is designed to support all mothers where they are, whether that is celebrating wiith them or providing skills to minimize intrusive thoughts or helping support them feel more connected to their baby.
